Shrewsbury Youth Hockey is excited to announce.....

Bruins Academy Learn to Play Hockey and SYHA House League programs for 2018-2019 season.

SYHA is dedicated to bringing the joy of hockey and learn-to-play access to as many Shrewsbury families and surrounding towns as possible. We do this each year through various learn-to-play programs and partnerships that build upon each other and afford families various levels of commitment and innovative ways to get players involved.

SYHA is excited to once again be a partner with the Boston Bruins and offer the 2018 Bruins Academy learn to play hockey program. Children ages 5-9 have this unique opportunity to try ice hockey before making the commitment. Get ready in September to take the ICE in October....... helpful hints below!!!
Ready to TAKE THE ICE?? The coaches and all of our on and off ice helpers are ready and looking forward to our first day! I wanted to share a couple of important reminders.
  1. Be sure to have your player's new skates sharpened. They will not come sharp and will be incredibly frustrating for your player as they try to stand up. They can be sharpened at Buffone Rink before hand. I would not wait until the night of our first practice..... there would be a VERY long line.
  2. Label EACH piece of equipment with your player's name, including stick. Use hockey tape on the front of your child's helmet and write their name with a sharpie in LARGE letters so the coaches can learn their name.
  3. Be sure to arrive at the rink at least 30 minutes before ice time. It takes a bit of juggling of equipment from the parking lot, checking in and get settled in the locker room. Also, it does take awhile to get all of the equipment on. (Practice at HOME and adjust buckles etc!)  Use the restroom BEFORE dressing. We will have volunteers in the locker rooms to assist with an equipment related questions.
  4. All players MUST use one of the designated locker rooms. Please - NO DRESSING in the lobby or on the bleachers
  5. LOCATION: Buffone Rink, Lake Avenue, Worcester. ICE TIME: 6 p.m
  6. Take lots of picture and videos!!! You will not believe the difference in just 4 weeks!
See you at the rink,
Coach Harry
